What is controlled and uncontrolled media??

In this post, I would like to comment on the selection of online platforms as part of a public relations plan.  There are many media tactics and they are divided into categories because of their features.  They can be internal versus external, public versus private and what I will be focusing on today is controlled versus uncontrolled media.  This category is based on how much control the organisation has over the media.   By definition, controlled media are ones that the organisations get to determine what content to be released.  Organisations can also have control over the timing, the distribution and the presentation of the content being released.  Some examples include newspaper, brochures and websites.  Uncontrolled media, on the other hand, are ones that the organisations cannot keep track of.  Some public relations practitioners argue that website and other social media can fall into both groups and practitioners who decided to use these media tactics should be careful of the information released.
Why do public relations practitioners say that online platforms can be both controlled and uncontrolled media?  For example, blogs.  The official blog of an organisation is no doubt going to be controlled media because the organisation controls what goes on to the blog.  It has high credibility and reliability.  Now imagine the organisation releases some breaking news on the blog and a third person writes about the news on his or her own blog.  The third person’s blog becomes uncontrolled by the organisation.  It is indeed free public relations, but the credibility and reliability is low.
When designing a public relations plan, practitioners need to be mindful that media options are dynamic.  They are never static.  For instance, TV advertisements seemed to have defeated radio advertisements because it has sound and images, but radio advertising is still a powerful communication tactic for specific target audiences.  Likewise, the evolution of social media also gives public relations practitioners headache.  Dorie Clark, in her article ‘What’s Next in Social Media’, claimed that a lot of tweeting teens are abandoning the long-form of blogs.  Consequently, public relations practitioners who want to use the traditional kind of blogs as a mean to communicate to teenagers and young adult need to consider if it is actually the most effective way.

A Walk With Christ

PRAYER

Sometimes you hear someone say “we've done all we can. The only thing we can do now is pray." Prayer really should be our first resort rather than our last resort. Jesus gave us the Lord's Prayer as a model prayer and Jesus himself often went off to pray, setting an example for us to do the same.

Have you ever received the sudden urge to pray for someone at the most unusual time? Or have you ever felt the need to just stop for a moment and just say a prayer for yourself well Mrs. Lozan Smith can testify to such happenings. Mrs. Smith is an elder in the Spur Tree Seventh Day Adventist church she is best known for her spirit moving prayers and many feel she has a direct connection with the Lord.

When asked how her relationship with God got so serious she said, “The Lord has worked many miracles in my life and over the years I have learnt to appreciate the presence of the Holy Spirit”. She says now she has a more than personal connection with the Lord, her days begin at 3:00 o’clock, at which time she gets up brushes her teeth, washes her face a prepares for the arrival of the Holy Spirit she then says that she spends at least two hours in deep commune with him. She says this discipline and dedication are her main reasons for such a deep relationship and that she will never stop until the day she dies because the Lord has been amazing good to her and that is the least she can give back to him.

Discipline and dedication are just a few ways in which one can communicate with the Lord but for Mr. Daniel Williams it is much different. Mr. Williams believes that he is a servant of God and he thinks that living a life similar to that of Jesus is all he can do to say thank you. “back in my time deh enuh  mi a did bad man, bad ,bad, bad and den through going to a crusade and being  backtized  mi reach where I am now and mi jus haffi serve God and give him thanks ‘cause him save mi”.  He went on to explain that he owes his life to the Lord and he will forever serve him.

So there we have two people who have dedicated their lives to the Lord, based on what he has done for them. For many who feel it might be too late it is never too late to share that deep connection with the Lord as he is always there, ready and waiting to hears our cries.

Call Me Sunshine

SUNSHINE STORY

The sun was setting with all its power and glory
on the horizon behind the sea as I stood there
on the sand which lay along the water's edge.

The clouds in the sky had the effect of evolving translucent light
yet as the sun sank further down into the sea
this light was changing to a sombre silver-grey.

Darkness was descending upon me where I stood
yet in the far horizon before me daylight was
making its impact once again on the earth.
It was getting chilly and darker and a slight breeze
was beginning to arouse the waters of a once calm sea.

The tide was going out and I could feel the moisture
from underneath my feet being taken away.
The sun was drawing away the very waters of the sea before me it seemed and everything was beginning to have a haunted aspect,
for without light all seemed to attain a gloomy and ghostly atmosphere.

The sun was now but a tinge of orange
giving off its last rays of light being swallowed by the sea.
What a splendid sight it was I thought seeing something alive
and wondrous making its last impact with beauty and significance before vanishing temporarily and rising again on the opposite to where it set.
It seemed to suggest that where there is light there is life
and where there is no light life would be unbearable and dark.

Dusk had come and night was here so I thought that I had better depart
in order to live and enjoy the sight just seen at some other date.

JUNGLE JUSTICE.......I AGREE!!!!!

OK, so i'm sure by now we've all heard about the 2 men
that raped the five women including an 8 year old..... *str8 face.

According to police, the incident happened at approximately 10:00 pm in Irwin St James- when two men one of whom was armed with a firearm went to a house occupied by 5 females.

The heartless thugs gained access into the house after they held onto one of the occupants, through a window, and demanded that the door be opened
all 5 were held at gunpoint, tied and raped.

None of us can even begin to imagine what those five women went though, and though many of us may say " well mi wouldn't let dem in mi wudda hide" or " mi wudda tek sumn and lik him u see" wen put to the tests or actually in th situation i kno most if not all of us would be frozen with fear. I dont know about you guys  but for me im very happy jungle justice was used this time. how  canyou tie and rape an 8 year old. im pretty sure my family members would have done the same so to spice things up a little here are some pics.

Is Mandeville becoming the next Kingston???

MANDEVILLE THE NEW "TOWN"

It is the word around the town of Mandeville, that Mandeville is slowly becoming the next Kingston as the crime rate within the city has been continuously escalating. There was further evidence of this, when gunmen and police were caught in a shoot out, yesterday September 19,2012 at the Manchester Shopping Centre.

An eye witness states that she was in the restaurant when both gunmen entered and ordered their lunch, she then went on to say that after eating they remained seated for about 15.

The girlfriend of the deceased, then entered and was in the process of placing her order when both men got up and went outside. One of the gunmen then broke the glass on the drivers side of the vehicle, with his hand and began shooting the diver. the woman, who wishes to remain unnamed state that filled with fear she ran into the bathroom, covered her ears and began crying.

After about five minutes the gunfire ceased and the police were summoned.
It was it this point where the official shoot out began. Another employee of the same restaurant then said that there was continuous gunfire for about fifteen minutes, as the police tried to stop both men. After the shooting ended both men were caught, one, trying to jump over a fence and the other was found on his belly, crying for the police not to kill him as he is the father of four.

Both men were arrested and brought to the Mandeville police station. The motive for the shooting has been linked to that of robbery.Persons at the shopping centre commended the police for their bravery and hasty response. "Mi happy seh dem ketch dem, di police really a do dem job" said another eyewitness.

What is information architecture????

  • information architecture  has to deal with more than what meets the eye..... that is literally.
  • it deals with what is below the surface on a website.
  • information architecture- this is the organizing of information on a website

What is a blog????

  • blog (a portmanteau of the term web log) is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often were themed on a single subject.
  •  More recently "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets, universities, think tanks, interest groups and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic.
  • The rise of Twitter and other "microblogging" systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into societal newstreams. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
