A Walk With Christ

PRAYER

Sometimes you hear someone say “we've done all we can. The only thing we can do now is pray." Prayer really should be our first resort rather than our last resort. Jesus gave us the Lord's Prayer as a model prayer and Jesus himself often went off to pray, setting an example for us to do the same.

Have you ever received the sudden urge to pray for someone at the most unusual time? Or have you ever felt the need to just stop for a moment and just say a prayer for yourself well Mrs. Lozan Smith can testify to such happenings. Mrs. Smith is an elder in the Spur Tree Seventh Day Adventist church she is best known for her spirit moving prayers and many feel she has a direct connection with the Lord.

When asked how her relationship with God got so serious she said, “The Lord has worked many miracles in my life and over the years I have learnt to appreciate the presence of the Holy Spirit”. She says now she has a more than personal connection with the Lord, her days begin at 3:00 o’clock, at which time she gets up brushes her teeth, washes her face a prepares for the arrival of the Holy Spirit she then says that she spends at least two hours in deep commune with him. She says this discipline and dedication are her main reasons for such a deep relationship and that she will never stop until the day she dies because the Lord has been amazing good to her and that is the least she can give back to him.

Discipline and dedication are just a few ways in which one can communicate with the Lord but for Mr. Daniel Williams it is much different. Mr. Williams believes that he is a servant of God and he thinks that living a life similar to that of Jesus is all he can do to say thank you. “back in my time deh enuh  mi a did bad man, bad ,bad, bad and den through going to a crusade and being  backtized  mi reach where I am now and mi jus haffi serve God and give him thanks ‘cause him save mi”.  He went on to explain that he owes his life to the Lord and he will forever serve him.

So there we have two people who have dedicated their lives to the Lord, based on what he has done for them. For many who feel it might be too late it is never too late to share that deep connection with the Lord as he is always there, ready and waiting to hears our cries.
